Last Sunday, we secured a big win against last year’s league champions in the semi-finals of the Maple League. And how about Oskari Toijala!? Three interceptions, one fumble recovery, and a touchdown! Needless to say, our defense not only scored for us but also gave us great field position throughout the game. On top of that, when our offense stalled, we were able to make two key field goals on special teams. So, all in all, it was a great team win, which allowed us to add another week of football to our season.
Offensively, we had a lot of players step up in crucial moments. Ethan Greenfield stood out on tape; besides catching and throwing a touchdown, he made some key blocks in the run and pass game. It was also great to see Santtu Vehkomäki back on the field and diving for a touchdown. You have to respect a player who can come back from a severe injury and still perform like the player he has always been.
Now, we are in the privileged position to compete for a championship this upcoming Sunday at the Bolt Arena in Helsinki. We encourage everyone with any interest in American Football to come support us and watch this great group of players take the field one last time this season!
